Hi! My name is Eileen.

Tell us about yourself

At the age of 39, I received a diagnosis of HER2-positive breast cancer. I underwent a series of treatments, including surgery and radiation therapy, which were completed by 2022. Following these treatments, my oncologist declared me cancer-free and I’m back to work.

What led you to the diagnosis and how has the journey been like?

Initially, I noticed some discharge from my nipple, which prompted me to undergo a routine health screening. The doctor reassured me that everything seemed fine at that time. However, after a month passed, my breast started to swell up, and I swiftly scheduled an appointment to consult with specialists at the hospital.

Receiving the news of my diagnosis came as a shock to me. Enduring the journey of chemotherapy treatments and surgery was incredibly challenging. There were moments when I broke down emotionally, but I'm grateful to have had the unwavering support and encouragement of my family and friends throughout this difficult time.

Any advice for others who may be going through a similar experience?

Having a positive mindset is important . The journey is tough, so seek support when needed. Joining a support group can also be beneficial.
